How To Become an EMT This Summer!

The first level is Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), focusing on basic emergency scene interventions and patient stabilization. Following EMR, the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification provides foundational skills for patient assessment and management in a variety of emergency situations. This is considered basic life support roles.

The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) level expands upon the EMT’s capabilities, incorporating more advanced airway devices, intravenous fluids, and some medications. The highest certification level, Paramedic, encompasses advanced medical procedures, pharmacology, and the use of complex equipment. These two roles would be considered advanced life support.

Start by taking your first EMT class!

  1. Do you have to have an associates degree to be a paramedic, or can you be a certified paramedic? My community college has two options, and the associates is a year longer, so I’m confused!😅

  2. Can I volunteer with the fire department as a medic only ? I am trying to find somewhere to volunteer before I can start class but I am wondering where to start ?

  3. Paramedic Coach videos helped me finish the NREMT on my first try at 72 questions. I’m just saying, he knows his stuff.
