  1. I own a leatherman rescue (?) and it is great, however for some tasks the thickness of the blades really hurt it’s performance. I have it for personal use, but my cheap shears work better for cutting gauze, which again, the thickness is a draw back in some situations. Still a great tool.

  2. I have an original pair of Raptor’s and they’ve been super handy, but also super painful to use for longer periods or repetitive cutting (like someone mentioned trying to get through turnout gear is BRUTAL on the thumb). There’s just no support for the finger and thumb. The newer one fixes that a bit, but honestly they’re almost 10 years old, rusting hear and there, and I just keep them on my go bag and used them when my cheapo hospital ones aren’t in reach. I had a friend who let me use his X Shears on a pt and man, butter. Just wish they weren’t so damn expensive.
